Whitney Griffin earned a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture Science (2008) and an M.S. in Horticulture Science (2010) from Auburn University. In 2014 she earned a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences from the University of Maryland, studying the effects of green roof substrate composition on storm water management potential. After completing her doctorate she entered the private sector, running the maintenance division for a firm specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of green roofs and living walls. Her portfolio spanned over 2 million square feet of green roofs and living walls from New York City to Raleigh and as far west as Chicago. Dr. Griffin joined the Texas A&M Department of Horticultural Sciences in 2015 to pursue her passion for undergraduate education. She teaches the Landscape Design and Management curriculum.
